(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 22 - Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky
described his country as "the gate for the Russian army" to the
EU and said that "they want to enter Europe" when he addressed
the Italian parliament on Tuesday as his nation combats Moscow's
invasion.
"But the barbarism must not enter," he added.
He also referred specifically to the desperate situation in
Mariupol.
"The Russian invasion is destroying families, the war continues
to devastate Ukrainian cities," he said.
"Some have been completely destroyed. Like Mariupol, which had
half a million inhabitants.
"It's like Genoa. Imagine Genoa burned to the ground". (ANSA).
