(ANSA) - ROME, APR 5 - University of Bologna student and
human rights advocate Patrick Zaki said Tuesday that he was the
victim of a big cyber attack before the latest hearing in a
trial in his homeland of Egypt for allegedly spreading fake
news.
"I have been addressing an enormous IT attack on my email and
social media accounts since last night," Zaki said via Twitter.
"What a great start!".
Zaki, who is accused of spreading false information about Egypt
in an article about the plight of the country's Christians, was
detained in February 2020 after returning to his homeland to
visit his family.
He was not released until December last year, although he is not
allowed to return to Italy.
After Tuesday's hearing, the trial was adjourned until June 21.
Zaki said he had asked to be able to travel pending his
sentencing. (ANSA).
