(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 4 - Maneskin frontman Damiano David is
backing a campaign to get the painful vaginal condition
vulvodynia recognised as a pathology that can be treated for
free by the national health service.
Roman rocker David attended a press conference of the committee
on vulvodynia and pudenda neuropathy Tuesday, of which his
girlfriend Giorgia Soleri is a member.
"I'm here as an ally, I'm only trying to do my bit, as much as
possible, but the real work is being done by all these girls,
it's incredible", he said.
"I'm not just here for Giorgia but for all the people on the
committee and all those who who are suffering. Now we can only
hope for the best, that this issue gets the attention it
deserves".
Vulvodynia is chronic pain or discomfort around the opening of
the vagina (vulva) for which there's no identifiable cause and
which lasts at least three months.
Although women often don't mention vulvodynia to their doctors,
the condition is fairly common.
"We're trying to move the stigma attached to it," said Soleri, a
model, actress and influencer. (ANSA).
