(ANSAmed) - BELGRADE, MAY 25 - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has called for the adhesion of Montenegro to 'Open Balkan', the agreement between Serbia, North Macedonia and Albania aimed at creating a common market in the Balkan area, eliminating barriers in exchanges to facilitate the free circulation of people, goods, services and capital. On the sidelines of the Forum of Davos, Vucic - media in Belgrade reported - met on Wednesday with the new premier of Montenegro, Dritan Abazovic, whom he invited to the new summit of 'Open Balkan' scheduled over the coming weeks in Ohrid, in North Macedonia.
In their talks today, Vucic and Abazovic spoke about boosting
relations between Serbia and Montenegro, in particular in the
fields of energy, infrastructure and tourism, as well as
regional cooperation and the reconciliation between the
populations of the western Balkans. Vucic, who spoke in Davos on
Wednesday during a panel on the situation in the Balkans, held
various bilateral meetings with political and financial leaders.
Serbia and Montenegro - which constituted a political union
until 2006 - are engaged in EU adhesion talks. Podgorica adhered
to NATO in 2017.(ANSAmed).
