(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 6 - The European Union will be able to
overcome its differences on energy policy at the upcoming EU
summit, President Sergio Mattarella and his German counterpart
Frank-Walter Steinmeier agreed in talks in Malta Thursday,
according to Italian sources.
"We must ease the consequences of energy cost hikes on the lives
of households and businesses," said Mattarella.
The Italian head of state added: "Faced with those who make of
energy an instrument of international pressure and speculation,
the European Union is called to react with a sense of community
and solidarity". (ANSA).
