A tourist who carved his girlfriend's
name into the Colosseum last Friday risks jail time and a hefty
fine, Italian officials said Monday.
The young tourist - as yet unidentified - who defaced the
Colosseum by carving his and his girlfriend's name (Ivan+Haley
23) on one of the walls of the Flavian Amphitheatre with keys,
risks at least a fifteen thousand euro fine and imprisonment for
up to five years, they said.
Some bystanders filmed the scene, which allegedly took place on
23 June. The video ended up on social media and alerted police
officers.
