Italy will host the Davis Cup Finals
from 2025 to 2027, the
International Tennis Federation (ITF) said on Monday.
The 2025 finals will be staged in Bologna.
The finals in the Emilia-Romagna city are scheduled to be held
on November 18-23 next year.
Sources close to the event have told ANSA that the president of
the Italian tennis federation FITP, Angelo Binaghi, has
expressed the idea of subsequently bringing the finals to
Bolzano, close to world number one Jannik Sinner's home town of
San Candido.
The eight-team men's event, dubbed the Final 8, was won this
year by Italy after Jannik Sinner completed an impressive year
on November 25.
The world number one beat Tallon Griekspoor 7-6, 6-2 to seal a
second consecutive Davis Cup title for Italy.
Earlier in the day, Matteo Berrettini had defeated Botic van de
Zandschulp.
Overall, it was the third Davis Cup conquered by Italy after the
first clinched in 1976 and the second last year.
Malaga has hosted the event since 2022.
