Serie A's bottom side Monza said
Monday that they have sacked coach Alessandro Nesta after a 2-1
home defeat to Juventus, the northern club's third straight
loss.
The club, which is owned by the Berlusconi family, have 10
points from 17 games.
It has collected nine losses, seven draws and a single win to
leave it at the foot of the table.
Former Lazio, AC Milan and Italy defensive great Nesta, 48,
previously coached Miami FC, Perugia, Frosinone and Reggiana.
Monza said the 2000 Lazio scudetto winner and 2004 and 2011
Milan Serie A winner, as well as Rossoneri Champions League
winner in 2003 and 2007, would be replaced by Salvatore
Bocchetti, a 38-year-old former Milan and Hellas Verona defender
who won five Italy caps and who has been assistant coach and
caretaker manager of Hellas.
Bocchetti will be in charge for Saturday's three o'clock
kick-off against fellow stragglers Parma, five points above
Monza and stung last time out by a 5-0 home thumping by AS Roma.
The Ducali are also coming off a run of three straight defeats.
