An estimated one million Italian
holidaymakers are expected to travel for the upcoming Epiphany
weekend with 91% choosing a destination in Italy and only 9%
going abroad, according to a survey carried out by the Tecnè
insytitute for hoteliers' association Federalberghi.
Overall, the majority of those polled will be spending their
winter break in a region close to home (54.1%) or somewhere
within their region (30.9%), said the survey on the Epiphany
national holiday on Monday, January 6.
Holidaymakers will spend an average of 3.3 nights away with an
average cost of 362 euros per person for those who will remain
in Italy and 544 euros for those who will vacation abroad.
