Gas: Gazprom storage empty, Austria threatens seizure
Chancellor, if not filled, we will give it to other suppliers

(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 13 - If Gazprom does not fill the Salzburg
storage plant with gas, Austria is ready to confiscate it and
make it available to other suppliers. Ukrainska Pravda reported,
quoting Austrian Chancellor Karl Negammer in an interview with
the Kronen Zeitung taken up by European Truth.
"We will make sure that if Russia's Gazprom doesn't fill our largest storage facility, we will take it from them and give it to other suppliers," he said. Kronen Zeitung clarifies that the storage plant, located in Haidach, near Salzburg, is the largest in Austria and the second-largest in Central Europe.
According to the newspaper, the storage is currently empty.
Russian media had earlier reported that Vienna was willing to pay for the gas in rubles. However, Chancellor Negammer later denied the circumstance, calling the reports disseminated on the matter a "false Russian propaganda." "Of course - he added - OMV will continue to pay for gas supplies from Russia in euros. Austria strictly adheres to the agreed EU sanctions," he underlined. This stance means a possible cut in gas supplies from Russia, with which Austria is not yet ready to deal. (ANSA).
