A European initiative dedicated to
young people in the Adriatic-Ionian area. Endorsing it is MEP
Daniela Rondinelli (Pd), a member of the Employment and Social
Affairs Commission of the EU Parliament who has been working on
youth and employment for years, the first signatory of a letter
addressed to the Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, Elisa
Ferreira to support the request for funding for the initiative.
Rondinelli cites some worrying data on the state of SMEs in
the Marche region. suffering from post covid, inflation,
competition from third countries, and the 2016 earthquake:
"trade, agriculture, and manufacturing are the most penalized
sectors."
"Yousair," he explains, "will serve to invest in young people
in the Marche and other Ionian-Adriatic regions as part of the
European Macro-Regional Strategy Eusair, which since 2014 has
involved ten countries in the area, four of which are members of
the European Union (Croatia, Greece, Italy, and Slovenia) and
six outside the EU (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro,
North Macedonia, San Marino, and Serbia), which include three
candidate states for accession to the Union.
Eusair (Eu Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region) is a
strategy adopted by the European Commission and the European
Council in 2014 to promote the prosperity and social and
economic growth of the territories bordering the Adriatic Sea by
improving their attractiveness, competitiveness, and land and
sea connections. Eusair's main objective is to prepare for the
European integration of the Western Balkans, a process launched
in 2011 with the signing of the Accession Treaty of Croatia,
which subsequently joined the EU on July 1, 2013.
According to Rondinelli, "the data on the revenues and volume
of investments of SMEs in the Marche that are still active bode
well; the region's potential is there. It is up to us to enhance
them with the support of the EU, taking advantage of the
prospect of integration between the single market and countries
that have experienced development and economic growth in the
last twenty years."
"For ten years, the Eusair strategy has been fundamental for
local authorities, businesses and families residing in the
Marche region. The European resources allocated have made it
possible to seize new opportunities from an economic point of
view," says the Pd parliamentarian. "We cannot let this strategy
die slowly or weaken, we need to take it forward by involving
young people. That's why Yousair is an initiative of an
experimental nature that is essential to make way for the new
generations that have the skills they need, especially the
digital ones, which are useful to update and reform the Eusair
Action Plan, and to support small-medium enterprises in the
Marche region."
