The Minister of the Interior of
the Croat-Muslim Federation, one of the two entities that make
up Bosnia and Herzegovina (the other being the Republika
Srpska), was turned back at the border with Croatia because he
did not have the proper documents to enter the neighboring
country, which is part of the European Union. According to
reports, Minister Ramo Isak, to avoid the long queues that occur
at this time of year at the more frequently used border
crossings, tried to use a border post intended for local
cross-border traffic, used exclusively by the local population
of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. The minister was aware of
this but attempted it anyway. The Bosnian border police let him
pass, but the Croatian counterparts turned him back. His
diplomatic passport did not help either. By law, ministers of
the Croat-Muslim Federation government are entitled to a
diplomatic passport.
