Bosnia and Herzegovina votes
today for local elections. The Balkan country was hit by
disastrous floods. Elections were postponed in five locations
epicenter of the floods: Jablanica, Konjic, Kiseljak, Kresevo
and Fojnica, all located in the Muslim-Croat Federation, one of
the two entities of the Balkan country, the other is Republika
Srpska.
Polls opened at 7 a.m. and will close at 7 p.m. The first
results are expected late in the evening. Voting is also taking
place in the major cities of Sarajevo, Mostar, Tuzla, and Banja
Luka. The latest flood toll released by the authorities is 18
confirmed dead and dozens missing, as well as numerous injured
some of whom are in serious condition. Meanwhile, the flow of
aid is intensifying, also after the Bosnian government activated
the EU Civil Protection Mechanism (Eucpm).
