Bulgaria's new parliament met
today for its first constituent session after being elected with
an early vote on June 9th, the sixth legislative election in
less than three years. The new 50th unicameral Assembly,
comprised of 240 deputies, is highly fragmented, with seven
political formations exceeding the 4% threshold. The
conservative GERB party won the elections with 68 seats. The
vote for President of the Assembly was not successful today.
