"Southern Europe's revenge" is the
title of a long article that the French daily Le Monde published
today in its economic pages. "The southern countries, which were
synonymous with the eurozone crisis ten years ago, have emerged
as the region's locomotives. According to Le Monde, Spain's
growth rate should be 2.7% this year, while Greece's is expected
to be 2.2%. Portugal is slowing down, but its pace remains above
the eurozone average, certainly 1.7% in 2024. Even Italy is no
longer the problematic country it has long been, Le Monde noted.
