Greece has announced that it will
take over responsibility for the safety and restoration of
Zakynthos' well-known Shipwreck Beach (also known as Navagio
Beach), which is under threat from weather-related corrosion.
Thanassis Kontogiorgis, Undersecretary of the Presidency of the
Council of Greece, explained during his visit to Zakynthos last
Thursday that the restoration work will be included in the 370
million euro investment package earmarked for the Ionian
island's infrastructure, according to the Ana-mpa agency.
