Serbia: defense minister, drones from Kosovo in last 3 days

Vucevic, the goal was to monitor the Serbian Armed Forces

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, NOV 2 - Belgrade has reported the presence in recent days of spy drones over the security zone close to the border between Serbia and Kosovo, claiming that such drones came from Kosovo.

Last night Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said that Serbian MiG-29 fighter jets had taken off against unidentified drones that - according to Brnabic - had taken shots at two Serbian barracks.

"Not only yesterday but in the last three days, our Armed Forces have spotted uncrewed aircraft along the line of the administrative boundary between central Serbia and Kosovo (as Belgrade defines the border, not recognizing the sovereignty of Kosovo's statehood ed.) in an attempt to monitor Serbian military units and some barracks," said Serbian newly appointed Defense Minister Milos Vucevic.

Speaking to Serbian public TV Rts, the minister - confirming what PM Brnabic claimed last night - added that on the orders of the President and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Aleksandar Vucic, such drones will be shot down in case of further sightings. 'We will defend the skies over Serbia,' Vucevic said. 'I cannot say to whom such drones belong, but I can say that they come from the territory of the province of Kosovo,' he added, underlining that on the orders of President Vucic, the Armed Forces raised the level of alert.
