"Expanding into the Western
Balkans is the most important geopolitical investment we can
make. Therefore, the leaders of the 27 EU member states and the
Western Balkans will meet again on December 18 in Brussels. The
future of the Western Balkans is in the EU," said Antonio Costa,
President of the European Council, in a video on X, ahead of the
region's leaders' summit on Wednesday. "The EU takes its
commitments seriously; they are not empty words," he stated. "We
are investing in peace and prosperity for all people of the
Western Balkans." We are investing in our shared future. In
these uncertain times, leaders from the EU and the Western
Balkans must work together more than ever."
