Poland said it scrambled fighter jets and mobilized all available forces Sunday in response to a "massive" Russian missile and drone attack on Ukraine. "Due to a massive attack by Russia, which is carrying out attacks with cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and drones against sites located, among other places, in western Ukraine, operations by Polish and allied aircraft have begun," the Polish Operations Command announced on the social media platform X."Due to the massive attack by the Russian Federation with cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and drones against facilities, among others, in western Ukraine, Polish and allied aircraft operations have begun in our airspace," the Warsaw-based military operations command wrote on X. Ukraine's Energy Minister German Galushchenko indicated on Telegram that "a massive attack on the electricity system is underway" and that Russian forces are "attacking electricity generation and transmission facilities across the country." Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitchko reported one casualty when a drone fragment fell on an apartment building in the capital. Local authorities and Ukrainian media reported numerous explosions across the country, particularly in the south in Zaporizhzhia, Odessa, Mykolaiv, and Chernihiv. In Poland, the wave of raids on the neighboring country sent military jets into the air.
