The general situation in Romania
remains tense and uncertain following the shock of the
presidential elections being cancelled at the last minute, just
two days before the run-off scheduled for yesterday. In the last
few hours, an episode with unclear contours has been recorded,
but it may outline concerning scenarios. The police have
arrested Horatiu Potra, a former Romanian mercenary with a
controversial background that includes service in the Foreign
Legion and activities in Africa. In the past, he has sent
critical messages to the West and expressed support for Russia,
including its invasion of Ukraine.
