Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja
Fajon announced today that the government has begun procedures
to recognise Palestine, according to the Slovenian news agency
STA. Fajon spoke of a first, irreversible step, announcing that
the recognition motion would be submitted to the National
Assembly within a month, or on June 13. Slovenia is thus sending
a clear message about the urgent need for Middle Eastern peace
and a two-state solution, according to Fajon's post on X. Spain
and Ireland are expected to recognise Palestine as an
independent country on May 21, but the exact date has yet to be
confirmed, according to STA.
