There are 120 cruise ships in the
world that are already set up to be powered by electricity on
the docks, but only 32 electrified ports remain at an
international level, accounting for 2% of the total and
representing a slight increase from 29 in 2022. This is the
conclusion of the most recent environmental report presented in
Hamburg by the Cruise Lines International Association (Clia).
Currently, there are only ten European ports with electrified
docks in four countries: Germany, Norway, Sweden, and the United
Kingdom, but none in Italy, where electrification interventions
have been funded in Civitavecchia, Livorno, La Spezia, and
Genoa.
