"Competitiveness on global markets depends on the ability of economic systems to innovate products and production processes. That is why there are various national or Community programmes in an attempt to coordinate these efforts at European level. The Big Sciense Business Forum instead was born as an autonomous initiative of the scientific community, promoted by the main European research infrastructures to develop basic research and original technologies worldwide, in which Italian industries have already proven to be protagonists". This was said by the director of Bsbf Trieste 2024, Paolo Acunzo (Enea), who presented the event during the debate 'Technological sovereignty: the future of European innovation' at the 32nd Karpacz Economic Forum.
Trieste won thanks to the application submitted by the Friuli Venezia Giulia, the result of shared work with the national research organization Area Science Park, ILO Network Italia, National Coordination of Industrial Liaison Officers at the major international Big Science organizations (CNR, ENEA,INAF, INFN) and PromoTurismoFvg.
"For the first time - explained Acunzo - the center of these activities to create a European Big Science market will be in Italy. In fact, already on 26 and 27 September the representatives of the international organizations of Big Science will meet in Trieste to discuss together the actions to be taken together in view of the BSBF2024. It is a recognition of the results achieved in our country thanks to the consolidated dialogue between research and industry".
