As part of the European
collaboration between Traffic Police, under the auspices of
European Labor Authority, the Police participated in a joint
inspection session held in Koper-Povir (Slovenia) and Villesse
(Gorica) on Nov. 14 and 15. The activity, in which personnel
of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Traffic Police participated, took
place at the Villesse toll booth on the A34 freeway and had as
its main operational objectives the fight against violations of
EU regulations on driving and rest times, analysis of the labor
relationship linking drivers to trucking companies, which is
essential to counter the phenomenon of social dumping, and the
regularity of authorizations for the activity of international
road haulage of goods and passengers. In total, 34 vehicles
were checked and 34 infractions were raised, including 12 for
technical efficiency of vehicles, 10 for failure to observe
driving and rest times, and 7 for exceeding speed limits. In
addition, an administrative detention of a vehicle was arranged
because its driver was driving with a revoked license.
