This year's 23rd Italian Language
Week has the theme "Italian and Sustainability and Kicks off in
Croatia next Monday.
The rich program is organized by the Italian Institute of
Culture (IIC) in Zagreb, the Consulate General of Italy in
Rijeka, the Departments of Italianistics of Croatian
universities, the committees of the Dante Alighieri Society in
Croatia, and several schools where the Italian language is
taught.
The event, which enjoys the high patronage of the President
of the Republic, opens on October 16 in Split with the concert
"Matija plays Sergio Endrigo" by jazz pianist Matija Dedić. The
Week continues with several lectures and seminars.
On Thursday at the IIC Zagreb, Italian Ambassador
Pierfrancesco Sacco will open the 23rd Italian Language Week
awards ceremony following the Croatian Contest. The rich program
of events will end on October 25 with a concert by composer and
saxophonist Marco Castelli and readings of texts by Italo
Calvino read by actor Adriano Giraldi at Zagreb's Klub Urania.
