An editorial meeting of a
newspaper held abroad. It is what Il Piccolo, from Trieste,
Monfalcone, and Gorizia (published by the Nem group), carried
out for the first time in its long history which began in 1881.
It is probably the first time for an Italian newspaper. In the
newspaper, there are pages dedicated to the political, social,
and cultural life of Istria (a region divided between Slovenia
and Croatia) and the Balkans, where there is a strong Italian
community.
The newspaper meeting was hosted on Wednesday, July 24, at
the headquarters of the Community of Italians of Rovinj
(Rovigno, Croatia), with a large group of community members. The
objective was to enhance and highlight the connection with the
Italian community. In Rovigno, Il Piccolo met in two sessions,
as it does every morning in Trieste: one with the other
newspapers of the Nord Est Multimedia Group (Piccolo, Messaggero
Veneto, Mattino di Padova, La Nuova Venezia, La Tribuna di
Treviso, Il Corriere delle Alpi, Nordest Economia) and the other
via video connection with the editorial offices of Trieste,
Gorizia, and Monfalcone.
Luca Ubaldeschi, the director of the Nem group's
publications, opened the proceedings by connecting from the
Quirinale Palace in Rome. Fabrizio Brancoli, deputy director of
the Nem group and coordinator of Il Piccolo, led the local
meeting. The members of the Italian community, led by president
Viviana Benussi, participated, discussing with the journalists
present and those connected remotely. The deputy mayor of
Rovinj, David Modrušan, was also present.
The relationship with Italy was explored in depth, with news
and ideas for services. The report of the day is published in
the two editions of the newspaper on newsstands today, with a
multimedia story on the newspaper's website.
