"Regarding the forest fire in
Slovenia that broke out yesterday morning, my fellow mayor of
Nova Gorica, Samo Turel, informs me that there are still some
active hotspots on the northern side, towards the Vipava Valley,
which are, however, under control." This update was provided a
short while ago by the mayor of Gorizia, Rodolfo Ziberna.
"The only risk," specified the mayor, who has been in
constant contact with Slovenian authorities for the past 24
hours, "is that the wind might strengthen. Airplanes and
helicopters, along with 450 firefighters, remain in action."
