The German minority government,
made up of Social Democrats and Greens, has begun. The President
of the Republic, Frank Walter Steinmeier, has officially bid
farewell to former liberal ministers Christian Lindner, Marco
Buschmann, and Bettina Stark-Watzinger. In their place will be
Chancellor Olaf Scholz's councillor, Joerg Kukies, who will
become the new Minister of Finance; Minister Volker Wissing, who
already owns transport and is now in charge of guiding justice;
and Cem Oezdemir, the current manager of Agriculture, who will
also take over education.
