Slovenia's Foreign Ministry
condemned the decision of the municipal council of the Italian
city of Gorizia to vote against a proposal to deprive fascist
leader Benito Mussolini of the title of freeman of Gorizia.
According to Slovenian news agency STA, the Foreign Ministry
stated that the decision is particularly harmful as the people
of Nova Gorica and Gorizia prepare to take on the title of
European Capital of Culture. On Monday, the council voted 19 to
11 against a proposal to strip Mussolini of the title he
received in 1924.
