In Germany Mario Voigt (CDU) has
been elected as president of the state of Thuringia. The
47-year-old will lead a coalition of the CDU, BSW, and SPD that
lacks a majority and can rely on the external support of
outgoing President Bodo Ramelow's Linke. Sara Wagenknecht's
populist party has joined the second regional coalition,
following the election of social democrat Dietmar Woidke in
Brandenburg yesterday.
