Italian Ambassador to Serbia, Luca Gori, hosted the launch event for the new intermodal corridor between Italy and Serbia, "Ausava," last night at his residence in Belgrade.
The conference, titled "Intermodal Corridors Italy - Serbia: Networks and Services to Support Businesses," was organized in collaboration with the Italian logistics company Alpe Adria Spa.
"Ausava" connects Cervignano del Friuli and Belgrade and will enhance trade exchanges between Italy and Serbia, also involving the port of Trieste. During the presentation, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Alpe Adria SpA and the Batajnica Interport (in the northern area of Belgrade), the new terminal built in the Serbian capital to facilitate the transport of goods using intermodal transport units.
The Ambassador opened the event by reading a greeting message sent by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, followed by speeches from the Minister of Economy, Adriana Mesarovic, and the Friuli Venezia Giulia Infrastructure Councilor, Cristina Amirante. The Minister of Infrastructure, Goran Vesic, was also attending the event.
During the conference, Antonio Gurrieri, CEO of Alpe Adria, outlined the "Ausava" intermodal corridor project. This was followed by analyses on the strategic importance of such infrastructure for the Balkans by Alessandro Panaro, Head of the Maritime and Energy Department, SRM (Intesa Sanpaolo Group), and Marco Di Liddo, Director of CeSI - Center for International Studies.
"The Italy-Serbia intermodal corridor is an extraordinarily significant project for further strengthening economic relations between Italy and Serbia. This initiative originated from the Belgrade Business Forum in March 2023 and continued after the Economic Forum hosted in Trieste last May," said Ambassador Gori. "This corridor," he continued, "will enable faster, more efficient, and greener transport of goods, supporting the environment and our businesses."
