The Transport Committee of EGTC GO
has formally requested that Slovenian authorities consider
granting a partial exemption from the total traffic ban for
heavy vehicles operating in the cross-border Gorizia region,
which is affected by the 18-month-long H4 highway closure.
According to EGTC GO's statement, the organization will support
requests made by the logistics sector to alleviate the economic
impact of this closure, which is scheduled to begin in early
December 2024 and continue until 2026.
The closure will affect the highway segment from Razdrto to
Vipavski Križ and will be implemented in multiple phases with
varying traffic conditions. The first phase, expected to last 58
weeks, poses significant challenges for heavy vehicles in
transit, as they must be rerouted to the Fernetti interport.
In the meantime, private and local heavy vehicle traffic will
be directed to use the parallel regional road from Razdrto to
Vipava.
EGTC GO is seeking an exemption that would allow authorized
vehicles to access the regional road, thereby minimizing the
impact of the highway closure on the cross-border logistics
sector.
