Marcell Jacobs said Tuesday renewed
British suggestions that Italy's Olympic 100m champ owed his
surprising late career time leap to doping were ridiculous.
Jacobs, 27, who also won a sprint relay gold in Tokyo, said "the
only positive athlete found recently was a Briton and the
British are trying to find someone doping outside the UK because
they're the ones with the problem at home.
"It's something that make me laugh, they make themselves
ridiculous on their own".
There were suggestions in the British and US media after Jacobs'
double triumph last summer that he may have doped his way to the
golds.
The US-born northern Italian took a long break after Tokyo and
is set to return to competition in Berlin on February 4.
