A portrait by Renaissance giant
Titian that had been thought lost has been recovered by Italy's
crack art cops.
The work has been rediscovered by the Turin branch of the
Carabinieri's Art Heritage Protection Unit.
"This is an extraordinary rediscovery", said investigative
sources.
The masterpiece will now be returned to the Italian State.
The work 'Portrait of a Man with Beret', disappeared in 2004 and
was thought to have been taken to Switzerland.
The art cops found it in a workshop where it had been taken by a
courier for restoration.
It has been valued at around seven million euros.
