The trend of declining Italian
personnel expenditure in relation to the defence industry total
is continuing and will amount to 62% of the total in 2022, down
from 76% in 2014, according to estimates in NATO annual report
out Tuesday.
The figure includes expenditure for civilian and military
personnel, including pensions.
Italy, on the other hand, spent 22.69% of the budget in 2022 on
equipment (down from 23.22% last year but up sharply from 10.92%
in 2014) and 2.19% on infrastructure (this applies to NATO and
national).
The other category, i.e. operations, maintenance and research
and development, accounts for 13.12%.
