Cyber attacks on Italy have boomed
due to the Ukraine war, the national cyber security agency said
in its annual report Monday.
From malware to phishing, from ransomware to mailbox compromise,
there were 1,094 'cyber incidents' handled by the National Cyber
Security Agency in 2022.
Of these, 126 were classified as 'incidents', i.e. they had an
impact confirmed by the victim.
There has been "a marked increase in malicious activity to the
detriment of government sectors and critical infrastructures",
the report said.
A phenomenon that has 'sharpened' with the war in Ukraine and
Italy is "among the countries most affected by the generalised
spread of malware and targeted cyber attacks, especially against
the health and energy sectors".
