Inter boss Simone Inzaghi on Friday
got the 13th annual Enzo Bearzot Prize named after Italy's
legendary 1982 World Cup winning coach.
"Inzaghi recalls Bearzot in the management of the so-called
locker room with a leadership that is at once strict and
paternally affectionate," said the citation.
The prize will be handed to Inzaghi on April 22 in the Rome HQ
of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), which supervises all
Italian sports including soccer.
Italian Soccer Federation President Gabriele Gravina said
"Inzaghi has reached maturity on and off the field.
Inzaghi said: "this prize would have been impossible without my
family".
Former Lazio coach Inzaghi came a lose third to Napoli and Lazio
last season and is currently leading Serie A by 15 points over
Juventus with 11 games to go.
He also holds a 1-0 lead over Atletico Madrid after the first
leg of their Champions League last 16 tie, ahead of a trip to
the Spanish capital next week.
