Juventus sacked coach Massimiliano Allegri with two games of the Serie A season to go Friday after he staged a histrionic protest against match and club officials near the end of Wednesday's Italian Cup final win over Atalanta in Rome, and went on to a bust-up with a sports daily editor in the tunnel.
Allegri was axed "for behaviour incompatible with the club's values," the Turin giants said.
It remains to be seen who will take over for the games against Bologna and Monza.
It could be under-19 coach Paolo Montero, the former Juve and Uruguay defender, or Allegri's long-time deputy Marco Landucci.
A divorce with the volatile 56-year-old Tuscan coach had already been seen as inevitable before his latest theatrics.
Montero, 52, had a long and illustrious playing career for Juve and his country before becoming a coach.
Landucci, 60, has been Allegri's assistant for many years.
