The Life Support migrant-rescue ship
operated by medical charity Emergency has rescued a total of 158
migrants in thee different operations carried out on Monday, the
organization said Tuesday.
Before dawn, the boat rescued 96 people in two separate
operations in international waters in the Libyan search and
rescue (SAR) zone.
A third operation to rescue 62 others was carried out in the
morning in the Maltese SAR zone, Emergency said.
A total of 158 people were on the boat on Tuesday.
The charity said it requested the medical evacuation by
helicopter of two sick passengers.
"We have requested the medical evacuation of two people
intoxicated by the inhalation of fuel vapours.
"Italian authorities have organized an evacuation by helicopter
off Lampedusa while the safe port we have been assigned is
Ancona, which requires four days of navigation", said Anabel
Montes Mier, mission chief of the Life Support.
