Fashion is culture and must continue to reflect culture, Anna and Silvia Fendi said at the presentation of the Rome-born fashion house's spring-summer 2025 women's wear collection in Milan as the family prepares to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the brand in 2025.
Fendi on Tuesday paid homage to the 1920s and the fashion house's founder Adele with art deco-inspired creations.
A transparent tunic decorated with deco-style motifs opened a show that featured silk and organza slip dresses, diaphanous trousers and a Mamma Baguette bag inspired by the house's iconic baguette-shaped purse paying homage to founder Adele Fendi.
The year "1925 is a milestone - the year of Fendi's creation as well as the year of the Art Deco show in Paris, the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts", said Fendi's creative director for couture and women's wear Kim Jones.
"The foundation of the way women dress today and, in many ways, of the way they think, dates back to the 1920s", he noted.
Meanwhile Alberta Ferretti's spring-summer 2025 offering was an ode to lightness The brand's summery creations featured staples made for daily wear such as boxer shorts, suits as well as feminine pleated skirts.
Laser cut cotton gave a lace effect to garments while pleating elevated dresses, which were both long and short but always impalpable and precious.
The day looks were in neutral shades of sand, ecru and black while eveningwear shined in bright hues.
Francesco Risso's new collection for Marni maintained the Milan brand's artsy heritage with broad-shouldered jackets styled with slim pants and origami hats.
At the centre of the collection for him and her, the search for beauty interpretated by Rizzo included a rose motif, literary passages and images of poets like Dante on dresses, shiny embroidery and a bow on a chiffony blouse combining art with fashion.
