Jannik Sinner lost to Carlos Alcaraz in a pulsating China Open final Wednesday.
The Italian world number one took the first set in a tie-break, 7-6 (6), lost the second 6-4, and lost the third in a tie-break to 3 after being 3 nil up.
World number three and three-time slam winner Spaniard Alcaraz, 21, a former US Open champion and two-time and reigning Wimbledon champ, thus won the Beijing ATP 500 event over the 23-year-old world number one and Australian Open winner from South Tyrol.
