President Sergio Matteralla on
Saturday evening voiced solidarity with the 30 police injured in
clashes with pro-Palestinians demonstrators in Rome earlier in
the day.
Presidential sources said Mattarella called the Rome Chief of
Police to express solidarity with the injured officers and
appreciation for the police force.
Four protesters were hurt including a young woman who suffered
head wounds in the clahes, in which stones, paper bombs and a
road sign were thrown at police who responded with water cannon
and tear gas.
