A 52-year-old American tourist died
after falling into Lake Como in Tremezzina on Saturday morning.
The accident occurred in front of the Villa Carlotta garden
museum around 6.30 am local time.
The man was sitting on a low wall when he lost his balance and
fell into the lake about three metres below, according to
initial reconstructions.
He is also said to have hit the base of the wall before entering
the water.
The man was already dead when the emergency services arrived.
He is believed to have attended a wedding party on Friday night
and stayed there until early Saturday morning.
