Over 19 million Italians are to go
away over the Christmas and New Year holiday period, up 9.9% on
the same period in 2022, hoteliers' association Federalberghi
said on Monday.
Of the total, some 13,253,000 people are set to travel at
Christmas and 5,878,000 for New Year, with an expected global
turnover of 15 billion euro.
The vast majority of Italian holidaymakers will remain in Italy,
with just 5% of those traveling over Christmas and 8.3% of those
traveling at New Year going abroad, mostly to major European
cities.
