A TV ad showing crisps as Communion
wafers has been pulled after complaints from viewers' and
religious groups.
Italy's self-regulating ad body IAP has ordered a halt to the
broadcast of the Amica Chips commercial, in which a crisp is
substituted for the host during a religious service, after it
ended up in the crosshairs of viewers association AIART and also
of several religiously committed users.
The Control Committee of the Istituto di Autodisciplina
Pubblicitaria (Iap) 'has ordered the parties involved to desist
from broadcasting this campaign, considering it to be in
conflict with Article 10 - Moral, civil, religious convictions
and dignity of the person - of the Code of Self-Discipline of
Commercial Communication, according to which: 'Commercial
communication must not offend moral, civil and religious
convictions'".
