Carabinieri ex General Mario Mori on
Tuesday said he had received notice that he was under
investigation in connection with Mafia bombings at art and
religious sites that killed 10 people and injured 40 more in
Rome, Florence and Milan in 1993.
Mori, former head of the ROS special branch and the SISDE
external intelligence service, now AISE, said he had got the
news on his 85th birthday.
"On the day of my 85th birthday, I received, from the Public
Prosecutor's Office of Florence, a notice of guarantee with an
invitation to appear in order to be interrogated as a suspect
for the crimes of massacre, mafia association and association
for the purposes of international terrorism and subversion of
the democratic order", he said.
The Florence bombing of an agrarian institute near the Uffizi
Gallery killed five people.
