Writer and activist Cecilia Parodi is
being probed in Milan on charges of "incitement to commit a
crime for motives of racial, ethnic and religious
discrimination" and for defamation aggravated by racial hatred
after Holocaust survivor and Life Senator Liliana Segre reported
her to authorities for a video posted on Instagram in which
Parodi allegedly expressed "hatred against all Jews".
Milan prosecutor Leonardo Lesti opened the investigation after
the report filed by Segre, who is assisted by lawyer Vincenzo
Saponara.
According to investigators, Parodi first used anti-Semitic words
against Segre on Instagram and then, after a comment posted by a
user, allegedly expressed "hatred against all Jews, hatred
against all Israelis, from the first to the last".
These last two alleged statements led prosecutors to also probe
Parodi for suspected instigation to commit a crime and for
aggravated defamation, according to judicial sources.
