A coast guard ship that departed from
the Puglia port city of Brindisi has reached Gjader, in Albania,
where 12 migrants staying at a newly-opened Italian-run hosting
and repatriation centre will be taken back to Italy on Saturday.
On Friday, the special immigration unit of Rome's tribunal did
not validate the detention of all 12 migrants who were taken
Wednesday to the Gjader centre on the grounds that their
countries of provenance, Bangladesh and Egypt, are not safe,
ruling the migrants must be taken back to Italy.
The migrants will be boarding the coast guard vessel on Saturday
and travel to Bari where they will be staying at a hosting
centre for asylum seekers, according to well-informed sources.
