In 2023, 7.6% of the Italian
population skipped medical treatment compared to 6.3% in 2019,
ISTAT has said.
"The percentage of those who gave up due to long wait lists was
4.5%", compared to 2.8% in 2019, said the president of the
national statistics agency, Francesco Maria Chelli, during a
meeting on the budget on Tuesday, citing the survey 'Aspects of
daily life', regarding people who had to forego a diagnostic
test or a visit with a specialist.
Meanwhile 4.2% of the population decided to forego treatment for
economic reasons and 1% because of the service's inconvenience,
warned Chelli.
