The Italian Ambassador to Tallinn, Stefano Catani, today opened the conference 'From the Mediterranean Sea to the Baltic Sea: Italy and Estonia during the inter-war period', organised at the University of Tartu.
In his speech, Catani evoked the long friendship that has existed between the two countries since Estonia's independence in 1918 and emphasised how it has been growing throughout the 20th and 21st centuries.
The exhibition dedicated to inter-war relations between Italy and Estonia, set up alongside the conference on the premises of Tartu University, can be visited until the end of the month.
